Day 12

It has been somewhat of a calm day today.

I woke up at 6am….yes naturally my body and the sun woke me up. I just laid in bed until 8:30am. I then got up and got ready for the day. Brad was ready to go around 9:30am and went to go get on the bus. I'm telling you it seems like every day I have a new experience on the public bus and each day it gets more and more crowded! Maybe that's how it is all the time, Nicaragua was just easing me into it the first few times. :) Well whatever the case, I am not crazy about the bus but it gets us where we need to go and I can definitely handle it that's for sure. I know how to adapt to my surroundings and the way of life.

So anyways, we headed to one of our scholar's mom's house to go check up on her and see a doctor with her. She found a lump in her breast and wanted to make sure it wasn't breast cancer because her mother had it. Well thankfully it wasn't breast cancer and she is doing well. They gave her medication to help reduce the lump. So we will see how that goes. The difficult thing is that we were asked if VISEDAL will pay for the doctor visit and medication. The only thing is that VISEDAL sponsors the kids and not necessarily the parents, except the families do receive a food stipend each month so we might end up using some of that to help her pay for the doctor visit. One thing I've learned is that this is the tricky situation because you don't want to say no but if you say yes then what you do for one you have to do for another. It's just interesting to see how VISEDAL handles these types of situations, and if you ask me I think they have done a good job so far.

After that was taken care of we had to meet with a lady who we will most likely rent space from to have an office and a central meeting place for the kids to come. So the meeting went well and we discussed things that had to be done to the property and what areas we could and couldn't use. It looks like we may rent it and everything should be ready no later than next week. So that is very exciting and we will be able to see the kids every day and work with them, teaching the kids english and also working on my project that I have designed for them.

The rest of the day was down time, we had lunch then took a nap and then I have been trying to download all of the pictures I have taken so far. It is very difficult to download over 300 photos with very spotty wifi connection and with a brain that has a hard time handling technology! :) But I will get through and it is a learning experience for me I guess.

So today I didn't have any photos and not a very busy day but the days to come will have a lot more going on and a great deal of pictures! :) Thanks to all of you who have been following this blog and I hope you are enjoying it! :)

Until next time, Buenas noches
