Day 7

Quite the day!

It was another beautiful and sunny day here in San Juan del Sur (SJDS)! It's so beautiful in Nicaragua! I woke up this morning at 6:30am completely wide awake and couldn't sleep. I tossed and turned all night last night. I don't know why its so difficult for me to sleep. But it was nice to wake up early get ready and sit outside and look at the beautiful sun. I got to talk with my parents and brother and it was really nice seeing as how I miss them so very much!

We went to get breakfast at 8am and then walked around the market. I found some neat shirts and an awesome pair of flip flops and for a great deal too! It was nice. We then went to have lunch and two of the guys from our group went fishing early this morning and caught 7 or so yellow fin tuna. They brought it to a restaurant right near the beach and they cooked it up for us. I have never had fresh tuna before but it was the best fish I've probably ever had! They cooked it so well and was very good!

Off to a shuttle we went to do a 'Canopy Tour' also called zip lining. It was incredible! There were 17 stations that we were able to zip line on. They were so high and we went over the bay and had a great view of the country! I was so in awe of the beauty that God has created. No matter where you go on this earth, if you just look around you you will see the beauty of God's creation! It was so beautiful and I had a lot of fun and the guys who worked there were very nice and funny too! By the way, I love speaking spanish! :)

We arrived back to the hostel and it was a quick shower, drink lots of water, and get ready for dinner. Tonight was a special night. It is the birthday of one of the men in our group! So it was time to get somewhat fancy. They asked for us to dress nice and I didn't have anything like a dress or what not so I wore my bathing suit cover like it were a regular dress. It actually did pretty well….look at me thinking outside of the box! We went to this beautiful resort and watched the sunset over the hill. It was so beautiful! We had such an amazing view of the city and the water and the statue of Jesus also!

Again I was in awe of the beauty of what God has made! To see the sunset and the beautiful colors and the mountains and the water and the sky, it was all so surreal! To look around and know that there is life and that the sea has it's place, the mountains have their place, the trees have their place, so all I need to do is find my place. God has created each and everyone of us for a certain purpose and a plan. A tree can't live without soil nor a bird without worms. To think that you were an accident or that you don't have a purpose is inaccurate! Just like God created the trees and the soil to serve a purpose so has He you!

One thing I really enjoy about SDJS is that everywhere you go in this city you can always see Jesus! :) It's just really neat to see the statue at a different angle depending on where you travel. It reminds me of how in our walk with God, no matter where you go you will always be able to find Jesus. Also depending on where you go in your life will depend on what angle Jesus is to you.

Those were just thoughts that have been in my head for the whole day! :) But it was a very great day and I am sad to leave here tomorrow morning but am also excited to be back in Managua close to  the kids and am excited to start working with them.

Off to bed for an early morning tomorrow! :) Buenas noches

  1. It was so nice to be able to see you too sweetie! I'm glad you had the opportunity to do the zip line. That's awesome! The fish sounded great! The part I loved about this post was how you were able to see the statute of Jesus where ever you went and the analogy that you used was powerful! Love ya and miss you!
