I got to see Jesus today! No seriously!
My day started at 7am and breakfast at 7:30am. I didn't sleep well last night, tossed and turned all night. I think the whole new environment thing is what's keeping me up at night. I don't know, please pray for a restful sleep for me.
After breakfast we walked to the statue of Jesus in San Juan del Sur. It was really neat! The path was so steep though and I raced a few people up it for fun and felt so out of shape! Hiking up to the statue of Jesus definitely made me think of spiritually meeting Jesus. I kept having the song, Laying at your feet, stuck in my head. I thought about the climb and how long it took me to get up there and how at times the mountain was so steep and I didn't want to climb anymore but I kept going because I wanted to see Jesus. That is how we should be spiritually. Jesus said He will never leave you nor forsake you. He also requires work on our part. At times our walk with God may not be easy and trying to reach Him may seem impossible, but if you could only keep walking no matter how slow you go! Sometimes you may be able to run, but whatever you do don't give up because when you see Jesus it is a sight like no other! When you experience His love, it is like no other. The Bible says, no greater love hath no man than this than to lay down His life for a friend. Jesus laid His life down for us! The least we could do is to walk and to press on to reach Him. He isn't far.
Also we had to pay once we reached the top to go in and see the statue of Jesus. I am so glad that I don't have to pay to see my savior! He paid it all for us on the cross! All He asks of us is to give ourselves to Him. His Word is free and His love is eternal! Just to lay at His feet, that is where I want to be!
It was just really neat to be able to do that and I got to have a lot of fun with the group and just think to myself how marvelous my God truly is. I don't praise the statue of Jesus that I saw today, but rather I praise the God of this universe who made heaven and earth and who died for my sins!
After the hike, we took a bus to a beach. Now this bus wasn't like ones in the states. I felt almost like a cow or horse being transported. But it was a great experience and a lot of fun!
Once we got to the beach, I had rented a surf board and began to learn how to surf by myself at first and then by a man who we met hiking up to the statue of Jesus. It was a totally new experience and I loved every minute of it! I wiped out many times but eventually was able to stand on the board a few times. I also got hit in the head with my board twice and have many bruises on my hips and legs from the board. It was crazy but again a lot of fun and something I wouldn't mind doing again.
We then all came back and got dinner and have been enjoying ourselves and just relaxing. It's nice to be able to take a breather but honestly I'm ready to get back to work! I can't wait to officially get started!
Thank y'all for your prayers, I am doing very well and my spanish is improving little by little every day! I miss the kids being here in SJDS but I will see them in a few days and can't wait!
Well off to bed and there will be more pictures to come! :) Goodnight!
Wow I'm so glad we don't have to pay to see Jesus:) Love this post sweetie! I'm not really shocked that you went surfing but I am a little shocked that you did this by yourself:) You are crazy like your mother:) I will admit that! I think I would have done the same thing, maybe:) LOL
