Day 13

What a day!

Today was a nice day to relax this morning. I woke up at 7am and showered and got dressed. It was great I got to put on clean clothes this morning! You see sunday afternoon Brad brought Jessie and I to a lady who washes his clothes, and no I don't mean at a laundromat, I mean washes clothes by hand! You won't find that in the States! So we dropped our clothes off and picked them up yesterday evening. The clothes smelled so fresh and clean! It was great! Also she got stains out of my clothes that had been there for months! I want to hire her for life instead of using my laundry machine! But I never truly appreciated how nice clean clothes feel until having to wear the same clothes for a a little over a week straight! :) So now I have clean clothes for now.

After getting dressed, I spent some time with God and really enjoyed reading in the book of Mark today. I like how every time I read the Word of God that each time I see something different! It's so amazing! So after that I am using a book to re-teach myself some spanish grammar while I'm here just to make sure I know how to talk right. I brought a grammar book with me that I got for my spanish class last semester and it's great! So just going over things to keep up my grammar and there are a few things I have forgotten. So that was good to do this morning and I plan to do it every morning, whether it's going over grammar or vocabulary, just speaking spanish to myself so I am confident and comfortable speaking with others here.

Then it was off to get breakfast at the usual spot right down the street from the hostel. Ham and eggs, gallo pinto(rice and beans), and a corn tortilla is my typical breakfast here. It's so delicious! After breakfast I came back and had some work to do for VISEDAL. The kids write letters to their sponsors as updates of how they are doing etc and so I have to look through the letters and make sure all the kids wrote updates and then translate them. I got them sorted today on who wrote them and who didn't. So next thing I will do it translate the ones I have and then get updates from the other kids.

We then headed to the mall to meet up with Josué and Isaac. It is Josué's birthday today and Isaac's birthday was a few days ago. So we took them both to the mall to go see a movie! 'How to train your dragon 2' in spanish! It was a neat experience for me, it was my first movie in theaters that was in spanish and the amazing part was that I understood 98% of what was said! How exciting to see your knowledge of a language grow! But anyways, the boys came in their best attire, they had on these nice shirts and their hair spiked up with gel. Josué turned 8 today and Isaac turned 7 a few days ago. They are the cutest little boys!

So after the movies we brought the boys to go get ice cream! What 7 and 8 year olds don't like ice cream! :) It was so precious! They were so excited! You see this isn't a typical thing for these kids. They don't just always go get ice cream and see a movie like kids in the States do. So this was definitely an exciting and special day for them. It was such a privilege to be there with them to celebrate and so incredible to see the excitement on their faces!

So it was a fun day and after I bought a book at the mall, a book in spanish just to continue to get my mind to think in spanish and I'm excited to read it! We headed back to the hostel to just chill and took a nap and finally organized all of my pictures thus far so I can upload them to Facebook and put more on here as well! So overall it was a productive day!

So Jessie and I made dinner for her, Brad and I tonight at the hostel. Quesadillas and potatoes! They weren't bad, the potatoes could've been cooked longer but it wasn't a bad dinner. We have been getting very creative with making dinner recently! :) So after dinner Jessie and I got all settled in to our room. I went to use the bathroom and there was this lizard on the wall! I immediately took a picture and was fascinated and then the fascination quickly ended! We didn't want to leave him in our bathroom because we didn't want him to crawl on us at night! So trying to figure out what to do and then freaking out every time it scurried somewhere else in the bathroom! It was crazy! Well let me tell you it pays to be a frisbee player, because Jessie brought her frisbee with her to Nicaragua and we used that to put on top of him and then I used a folder to slide under the disk and we quickly threw it outside! It was so funny! Definitely made our nights funnier and more interesting that's for sure! Nicaragua never ceases to provide some type of entertainment! :)
Our little visitor tonight, I call him Larry

So after a fun day with the boys and an interesting night with our lizard friend Larry I say it's been a good day! :) We have another 2 birthdays to celebrate tomorrow so it will be somewhat of a busy and early day tomorrow! Well that's all for today.

Until next time, buenas noches
