It was a nice day after yesterday's big day!
I woke up at 8am and got ready to go to church for the 11am service. If you recall the church's name is Elevate. Brad and I left the house at 10:50 to walk over to church. Today their pastor was back but he had one of his ministers preach this morning. His minister spoke spanish so the pastor translated in english. The pastor of the church is an American man who moved down here with his family to start a church. They usually have all english services at 9am and all spanish at 11am, which I mentioned last sunday, but since it was the pastors service back after being gone for five weeks they did a combined service. Next sunday it will go back to normal, which I'm excited to experience my first all spanish service next sunday!
Today's service was incredible! The worship was amazing! It is so incredibly amazing to be in the presence of God. This morning I really felt His presence while worshipping Him. We sang a song in spanish that was saying we love your presence God and in your presence is where we find salvation, peace, and joy. As I sang that song I just thought how amazing it is to be in His presence. I am telling you there is nothing in this world that can compare to the feeling of being in God's presence. I am just overflowing with His spirit right now. Still on a high of Him. We also sang this song that I actually learned in the Dominican Republic. It talked about I know who I am and I am yours. I am so in love with the fact that I am His. That I am a child of the King! I want the kids here to know that! That they are children of the King! That they are His and He has made each of us for a purpose and we are not a mistake, we are not an accident!
When I came back from church, a song popped in my head and I youtubed it and I got another song that I knew and it was so much more relevant than the other one I tried to find. The song is Great Are You Lord by All Sons and Daughter. Some of the lyrics are "You give life, you are love, you bring light to the darkness, you give hope, you restore every heart that is broken, Great are you Lord" The next verse is "It's your breath in our lungs, so we pour out our praise, pour out our praise, it's your breath in our lungs, so we pour out our praise to you only". And it goes on and is really a great song! I am listening to it right now as I write. You should look it up. But anyways it just made me want to jump up and down and right now I am having a hard time containing my excitement and praise! He is so great! He is so mighty! He deserves all of the praise! It's His breath in our lungs so He should be the only one we praise and worship! No one else deserves our praise!
The song also went along with the preaching today do. The minister talked about be careful of the darkness because even though you may be in church it is so easy for darkness to creep in. But that darkness only exists in the absence of light. He talked about Jesus being the light and that the only way that darkness can creep into your life is if you don't allow God's light to fully shine in your life and expose yourself to His light. The song talks about God bringing light to the darkness. It is completely true! You see just like darkness hides from light, so does the enemy from the presence of God. That is why it is important that you never leave the presence of God. It was just so amazing and I just get so excited when I think about how great God is! I want these kids to know that He is so great and that any concerns or fears or problems they have that they can give it to God, because He is so great! He is so great! I just thank God for His presence. Lord, let me never leave your presence!
Well church was really great, just thought I would share some of my thoughts from today!
I have had a pretty relaxed day today. I had to update a blog for VISEDAL but that was really the only work I had to do. I got to relax the rest of the day. I am so excited about tomorrow though! Tomorrow is the first day of our work hours in the office. We will be going 8am to 5pm Monday through Thursday, where Rocío will be having her sessions with the kids at least once a week, but the kids will also come throughout the day to hang out with Jessie and myself, to do homework, and to learn english. We will see each kid on a different day, they can't all come every single day because they each have school at different times. So our main group sessions will be on friday. That is where I will have the girls 12 and up, Jessie will have the little ones, and Brad will have the boys 12 and up. Fridays at 1pm to 5pm is when these sessions with us interns and Brad will happen. So we do get to see the kids throughout the week and every day we will see different kids but Friday is the day we get to have them all together. So it will be nice to have official work hours and be on a schedule. I am excited to continue my project and see the kids on a daily basis.
I just made Brad and myself my pasta and vegetable stir fry tonight for dinner. It was very delicious again. Well I need to get to bed soon because it will be an early morning for me tomorrow! :) Oh but before I go I just wanted to share that I just found out that last night when my folks were FaceTiming me and supposedly had me on a pillow in between them, yea no not true! I was put on the pizza box! No pillow for me! I guess I'll have to wait until I get home to have a pillow on their bed. :) I just wanted to correct my story for ya'll. It's ok though the time with them was still special. :)
Well I am off to bed!
Until next time, buenas noches
