Day 27

Another great day!

It is so great to have an office space! We had more scholars come today and every time each kid comes they always are so excited to see us and spend time with us.

This morning was another day of waking up at 7am but not getting out of bed until 7:15am. I really need to change that so I have more time in the mornings for myself. Anyways, this morning was a pretty slow morning. We only had one of our scholars come in the morning, Miguel Ángel. So I was able to work on my spanish and just reminding myself of grammar rules by writing them down in my notebook. I was also able to talk with Miguel Ángel and it was neat hearing about his likes and what he enjoys doing and he has also been learning english and really loves speaking english. I was also able to help him with his english which was a lot of fun and really neat. During this, Brad and Rocío had time to go over the contract more after Rocío had her session with Miguel Ángel.

Lunch was at the usual spot again and I got the same thing, bistec de res con arroz y frijoles con una Fresca, but this time I also got tojadas fritas because I was really hungry since I only had a granola bar for breakfast. So in english, for lunch I had beef strips with rice and beans a Fresca which is like a lemon lime soda, but better than sprite or 7-up. I also was able to get fried plantain chips. It was very delicious as always and it was my first time having the fried plantain chips at this place so it made lunch somewhat more exciting.

After lunch things picked up immediately. We had four of the young kids come, Isaac, Josué, Génesis Valesca, and Angely, and we also had one of the older girls come, Joseling. The four little ones had a fun time playing and running around as well has coloring. They are all so adorable and Jessie kept them busy with the crafts and also running around with them. They were also able to meet with Rocío throughout the afternoon as well.

Watching the kids play and have fun was really neat. My afternoon was spent with Joseling! It was great! I love her so much and she is such a sweetheart and I can definitely see us being good friends. She had homework to do today so she was able to use VISEDAL's computer and complete her homework. She had another assignment that was for her english class and she had me help her with it. She had to write a paragraph with verbs in the past tense. She said what she wanted to say in spanish and I helped translate it to english. It was definitely helpful for me to translate like that but it was also just fun being with her and helping her as well. We were able to complete the assignment and after that it was time for us to have fun and just be girls. So we got onto Facebook and I was able to show her and Rocío pictures of my family and they did the same. Joseling also showed me this app on Facebook where you can decorate pictures and she decorated my profile photo for me and it looks really cute! It was fun just hanging out with her and laughing and having fun together. I was also able to explain to her about the journals and told her about all of us girls meeting on friday.

Overall it was a great day! We had six out of the seven who signed up for today come! So it was really exciting to see almost all of the kids who said they would be there come. It just makes me more excited for tomorrow!

After work we headed home to drop our book bags off and then headed to metrocentro to go get some dinner. I had pizza tonight this time and it was very delicious! After dinner I treated myself to a Mcflurry from McDonalds. It was a nice treat! We came back to the house a little after 6pm although it felt like 10pm. I showered and got ready for bed. I definitely am going to call it an early night! Working 8am to 5pm is very exhausting but it's so worth it being able to see the kids every day! :)

Well until next time, buenas noches
